Who doesn’t love fall in Minneapolis? It’s the perfect time to enjoy the lakes before the weather gets too chilly, and there are plenty of ghoulish events to celebrate the spooky season!
Whether you want some tricks or treats, we’ve got a list of the top fall Minneapolis destinations that you won’t want to miss.
Visit Waldoch Farms
Looking for an Instagram-worthy spot to pick the perfect pumpkin? Just a short drive from Minneapolis is Waldoch Farms, the area’s top-rated pumpkin patch that features activities for everyone.
We love this family-friendly spot, which has been growing some of the best pumpkins for 4 generations. You can plan an entire day trip to this charming farm—there’s just so much to do and see! We recommend going on a hay ride, which is free with the purchase of your own pumpkin. There’s no better way to get into the fall spirit!
From September 21st through October 31st, you can even make your way through their scarecrow-shaped corn maze! They even have special “flashlight nights,” which is when the farm truly comes alive.
Get Spooked at Fright Farm Haunted House
Want to trick-or-treat yourself to Minnesota’s scariest haunted house? Fright Farm is just a 20 minute drive from the center of Minneapolis, and this spot isn’t for the faint of heart. Fright Farm has been operating since 1996, and since then, it has grown into a large-scale, theatrical haunted house for Halloween lovers everywhere.
Wondering what to expect? This indoor haunted extravaganza is meant to be a terrifying experience for all. If you’re not a fan of being frightened, Fright Farm also features a “low scare” option, which is suitable for younger children. There are also concessions available, so you can grab some grub after your haunt.
Want to know the best part about visiting Fright Farm? It’s also a non-profit fundraiser for organizations like D.A.R.E. and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Foundation. This is the only place in the area where you can get spooked for a good cause!
Pick Some Apples at LucyLine Orchard
There’s nothing better than savoring some locally grown produce, especially if you get to pick it yourself! You’ll find some of the state’s most delicious apples at LucyLine Orchard—it’s less than an hour away from downtown, making it the perfect weekend activity.
LucyLine Orchard was established as a family business in 2004, and they’ve kept the spirit up ever since. Today, the orchard has expanded to 10,000 trees, 4,500 grape vines, and 10 acres of pumpkins—that’s a lot to explore! There’s a type of apple for everyone, whether you’re craving something sweet or sour. Best of all, you can pick as many apples as you want!
When you’re done harvesting, feel free to check out the orchard’s many other attractions. There’s a gift shop, restaurant, hay rides, a corn maze, and so much more!
